Mobile App

Bedell Property Management, based in Milford, Michigan, specializes in upscale residential and commercial landscaping services, including horticulture, landscape design/build, and site development consulting. Bedell Property Management takes care of plant's both inside and outside of homes. Recognizing a growing interest in gardening, owner Mike Bedell sought to enhance customer engagement through a mobile application.

To address this, I collaborated with Bedell Property Management to design a user-friendly mobile app that simplifies plant selection and health monitoring. Through user interviews and surveys, we identified key customer pain points: insufficient communication, lengthy wait times for plant selection and planting, and a desire for real-time updates on plant health and landscaping activities.

I developed a high-fidelity prototype featuring an intuitive interface that allows users to select plants suitable for their location, and monitor plant health through real-time updates. The mobile app also includes an integrated e-commerce store, streamlining the plant purchasing process. After conducting user interviews and usability testing, some users expressed that they would like to be able to choose where the plant, will be planted, in their yard, and to integrate that into the mobile app. I then further iterated, and designed a way to specify planting sites via a landscape view of their yard utilizing map view.

Final usability testing confirmed the app's effectiveness, with users appreciating its ease of use, map view functionality, and the ability to oversee plant health and placement. This project exemplifies how thoughtful product design can bridge the gap between landscaping services and customers needs, providing a seamless and informative plant experience for both inside and outside.
